The quarantine for the coronavirus has been in full swing over here for a couple weeks now. I’ve lived in a state of quarantine for the better part of 10 years because of chronic illnesses and my compromised immune system, so I’ve had to get used to being isolated from people as a regular way of life. But I know how hard being separated from people can be in the beginning, so I just wanted to take a moment to say that it’s okay if the isolation has been causing you to feel a little depressed lately. It’s normal, and it’s okay. Just do your best to keep your head up and remain positive, but don’t beat yourself up if you find that some days are a struggle.
Some of the things that have helped me the most throughout my years of quarantines are: listening to audiobooks, reading stories and the bible, COLORING, writing poetry, long baths, journaling, playing HayDay, owning a hammock & taking naps in it, organizing & de-cluttering the house, GARDENING, playing Yahtzee, memorizing verses, handlettering, becoming passionate about cooking, and last but most certainly not least: ANIMALS!

Apart from the best little therapy dog and two chickens, Walker and I also own two goats and are fostering four more until they find a good home. Owning goaties of my very own is one the happiest things crossed off my Bucket List EVER. Goats really are the best…they have so much personality! The one above is named Rosemary and is one of our fosters. Sometimes she literally gives me kisses and it’s the cutest!

This one is Lavender and she’s my baby. She’s the one that almost died when she was born because her mom rejected her. It’s hard to believe she was ever the runt of the kiddings because now she’s one of the biggest! She’s healthy and happy and so sweet ❤

This is Pepper, another one of our fosters, and she obviously doesn’t appreciate getting her picture taken 😉
Like us, goats really do get depressed when they are in isolation. They need to be in at least groups of two or else they’ll get sad and run away in search for another goat friend. And even with each other, when they’re pet goats (which ours obviously are) they seem to get sad if they’re separated from their humans for too long as well. It’s so cute because if I haven’t gone down to hang out with them, they’ll come up to the top of the fence and call out for me until I do. And yes, sometimes that can be pretty annoying, but deep down I love them all the more for it.
Animal therapy really is, in my opinion, one of the best forms of isolation therapy that there is. But even if you don’t have any of your own to play with, there are still lots of ways to get your daily dose of cute animals online through cute videos! For example, Google “baby goats in pajamas” and I’m pretty sure you’ll find what you’ve been missing all your life 😉
Sending virtual hugs and prayers for everyone during this time ❤
Yours Truly,
~Cassia Dee
Hi, Cassia. Just found your blog, and it’s lovely!
So, I’ve been anti-pet all my life. Don’t like animals. They kinda gross me out. But almost a year ago, that changed. And now, I can’t imagine life without Stevie, our cat. (You can read about how we adopted her here: https://saralivingfree.com/2020/02/27/shop-cat-story-adopt-a-stray-cat/)
I still don’t LOVE animals, but I love MY animal. And having a pet has given me a better appreciation of God’s creatures and why he gave them to us. 🙂

Hi Sara! Thanks so much for leaving a comment and introducing yourself! I loved your post ^_^
I actually know exactly what you mean! My mom hated all animals with a passion, and I grew up hating them. Until a stray cat that used to wait outside our front door for me (our neighbors fed him), and always seemed to come find me when I was sad.
I married a man allergic to cats and dogs and rabbits, so I never thought I’d be able to have pets, but my brothers bought goats and it was love at first sight for me! And after my husband was exposed to them for a few years he fell in love with them too and so we adopted some and are taking care of the others. AND THEN God provided a tiny hypoallergenic puppy shortly after. Now I am the biggest animal lover ever and can’t imagine a life of chronic illnesses without all of my pets! God seriously changed my heart and I’m so thankful for it ❤

It’s neat how He gives us gifts we don’t even know we need, or want!

I know, he knows so much better than us what we need and when we need it…and it always amazes me how God doesn’t just give us our needs, but, like you said, provides even our wants…happy little things that bring us joy ❤
