I have wanted to start an art journal for what feels like ages. I think I sort of started one a couple times in the past, but at the end of the day I either wasn’t confident enough in my artistic ability to keep at it, or I just didn’t know what to draw. I mean, life with chronic illness doesn’t lend itself to too many moments that make a person think, “I just have to capture this in a drawing!” You know?
But ever since I started gardening last year, I’ve found myself wanting to keep sketches of the whole experience. So this year I decided, you know what, I’m going to go for it!
Here is my first page ☀️
Sunday, March 22nd
I planted my first seeds today! We got a plastic “greenhouse” on Amazon, and Walker & I set it up and then put it in the sunniest part of our yard. I filled biodegradable sacks (34 of them) with soil, and planted Brussels Sprouts, Bell Peppers, Eggplant, 3 different kinds of Tomatoes, Celery, Italian Sweet Peppers, Kale, Jalapenos, Spearmint, Lavender, and Thyme!
Last year I bought seedlings for all my veggies (and everything but flowers) from a nursery, so this is my first time starting “indoor” seedlings. I’m nervous!
I spilled a bunch of Brussels Sprouts seeds on the ground, so Walker scooped them up for me and planted them in the blue pot. I hope they grow!

I love your drawings! If I could draw like that, I’d keep a journal too. Bless you in your gardening endeavors. 🙂
