When life is really stressful, I listen to a lot of JJ Heller’s music. JJ has made many albums and loads of singles besides, and I believe I’m only 3 songs short of owning every song she’s ever made…that is how much I love her music.
No matter my mood or current struggle, I pretty much have a JJ Heller song that helps me through it. She always seems to write the words I’ve been needing to hear the most, and because of this I have come to think of her as my music mother. Like the words of a loving mother to her child, JJ Heller’s lyrics always seem to meet me where I am, bringing so much comfort and encouragement to my soul.
In these trying times, both in the world and in my personal life, I’ve found myself needing my “music mother” more than usual. I find myself singing her songs as I go about my day, I hum happily along to her music while I garden or clean the house, and I find myself praying some of her lyrics when I’m sad. It’s been such an encouragement and a blessing!
This month I’m especially loving her song called “Asking For A Friend”. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t heard it already, because I think it’s beautiful 💛
