In Honor of the Twenty-Second Week of the Year

Most of my dear readers already know by now that I’m obsessed with the number 22. But did you know that I’ve also been twenty-two years old for more years than I’ve bothered to keep track of?? It’s true. Okay so it’s not actually true, but it might as well be 😉

You see, for the majority of my life there was one year that I looked forward to the most: the year I would turn 22. I had a bucket list of things I wanted to complete before I turned 23, I had a “golden birthday” celebration, and I got to spend the better part of my life anticipating that special year. It was so happy and so much fun, so when my 23rd birthday rolled around and I found myself not quite ready for that milestone to pass, I just decided to keep turning twenty-two until I was at least 30 hehe. It was a joke at first, but every year at least one person texted me and said, “Happy Birthday, I can’t believe you’re finally 22!” until it just stuck.

I turn 30 this month (which still feels seriously crazy and not at all real), and with 2022 practically around the corner it just felt right to me that this be my final year of celebrating turning twenty-two. Of course that won’t stop me from actually being twenty-two, I’m pretty sure a part of me will always be twenty-two even when I’m 90, but maybe I’ll stop pretending that every June 22nd is actually my twenty-second birthday…and that’s a start, right? 😛

So to everyone who has ever indulged me on this silly little 22nd-birthday journey that has brought me so many giggles, smiles and joy, you’re the true ones and I love you for it…you know who you are 💛

Happy 22nd week of the year to you all!

Yours Truly,
~Cassia Dee
