Sooo…for the last month or two I was getting pretty sick again and we thought mold symptoms were getting way worse for some reason. At first it was just annoying, then it began to get discouraging, then it started entering into scary territory. By last week I was stuck in bed almost full time with debilitating flu-like symptoms, and we didn’t know what to do.
Well, we finally figured out what was wrong. Our fridge was broken. And I don’t mean absolutely dead…obviously we would’ve noticed that right away. But it broke slowly and gradually, so that the drop in temperature wasn’t even noticed.
Finally, when we noticed that everything in our freezer had defrosted and re-frozen at some point, and when we noticed the produce in our fridge had sprouted mold even though they should’ve been way too fresh for that, we realized our fridge had probably been going through cycles of breaking down on us, starting to work again, and breaking down again for some time.
But thank God that our landlord is so amazing, because within 24 hours of putting in a maintenance request we had a new fridge installed!
By the next morning the cool air coming out of it every time we opened the doors was a thing of beauty, but it also made us realize that it had been weeks, if not nearly two months, since we’d felt anything that cold coming out of our fridge…which perfectly tracked back to when I started getting really sick again. Turns out it wasn’t mold symptoms getting worse…I was just micro-dosing myself with POISON the ENTIRE time! -_-
It has been a few days of not being food poisoned, but I’m still not better. I’m a lot better, of course, but still have a ways to go. I’m just thankful that I’ve been a vegetarian for some time now, otherwise ohmygoodness I’d definitely have ended up hospitalized a long time ago! I’m also thankful that my health had been doing so much better before all this food poisoning happened, because all things considered my body is doing so much better handling all this than it would’ve been had this happened at any other point in the last two decades. God really did protect me!
Walker is doing a lot better than I am, but he’s still feeling sick too. Thankfully, he had been mostly eating things from our not-broken chest freezer since I was too sick to cook as often as usual and he was always so sweet to leave the leftovers for me, so he was spared a lot of the poison. Even so, we still both feel like we’re fighting various degrees of stomach bugs so he would love prayer for healing a quick recovery too.
I’m feeling too sick to write much more, but I’m sending my love and should be back soon!
